Back to Jangband home page This is the Jangband art contest page. The winner is Gayla Drummond of http://chicksinchainmail.com Here is the winning entry. ![]() Here are the rules that the contest followed. I'm keeping them up for historical purposes. Maybe I'll run another contest for sprite creation next year if I'm feeling rich. Art Contest Purpose Jangband is a free game under development. The game and the source code will be given away for free. Many computer programmers will contribute to this game for free. Think of it as a communal hobby. The problem is that computer programmers typically are not artists. We need contributions from real artists. Because everything about this game will be free for downloading and for reuse in other programs, the images also have to be free. Proprietary clip art and restrictive copyrights cannot further the cause of free software. Current Contest Create a splash screen for the game complete with game title. It's that simple. The Prize $200 US dollars is the prize for the first contest. The prize money will be donated by Gene Davis Software. It will be paid with a US check drawn on a US bank in US dollars. Deadline The deadline is June 30, 2006. Rules All art work must be unique and created by the contestant. Entries must be presented in PNG RGB format at a resolution and size that can be used either unmodified or easily modified in the game Jangband. All winners must turn their winning piece of art over to the public domain upon collection of their prize. Simply acknowledging this in the email entry will be enough. Once again, the prize money will be donated by Gene Davis Software. Rules are subject to change and/or interpretation solely by Gene Davis. Email your entries to: |
