This is the official site of Jangband.
Jangband will be based off the source to Zangband 2.7.5 prerelease 1. I Jangband Description Jangband is a free (as in food) fantasy computer role-playing game. Jangband is a rewrite of Zangband in Java, with a few additions such as network play and updated art. Zangband was in turn a rewrite of Angband. Angband's name was taken from Tolkien's name for an ancient evil fortress. Jangband Downloads You can download it here. The project isn't that far yet. In fact it is just beginning. Here is the Jangband Source Forge page where downloads of source and installs are available for free with a GPL license. Jangband Source Documentation Jangband is Java based, so of course I've javadoc'ed the source as it stands. Art Contest We will need art for this site and the game. We held a contest to develop a new splash screen, you can see the result at the top of the page. See the art contest page to find out more about how the contest ran. We will be looking for volunteers to create new opensource art for the game in the future, for now I'll be focussing on coding. The prize money was donated by: Gene Davis Software. |
